Can you retry with R600_DEBUG=nosb blender? For me it seems to mostly fix ESM (when comparing to VSM) Created attachment 141085 [details]

The attached shader is one of the exampled that gets incorrectly optimized by sb
today the repository padoka ppa has updated the drivers so I could test blender 2.8 ... all the problems are now solved!
