Description Remi 2007-09-30 17:09:44 UTC
I have Lenovo Thinkpad X61 with Intel 965GM chipset and GMA X3100 graphics controller.
I run Slackware 12.0, 2.6.22.7 kernel, hand-compiled Xorg R7.3 and libdrm/mesa/xf86-video-intel from git.
I get ugly screen tearing - most evident when playing videos (mplayer -vo xv), but also when any fast screen update happens (i.e. flipping pages down in Mozilla).
I suspect this is caused by the driver not syncing the screen refresh to the video blanking interval properly. I used driconf to create .drirc file which sets ""vblank_mode" to "3"(Always synchronize with vertical refresh...), but it had no effect on the bug.
This is pretty much a showstopper bug for me - I can't watch any videos (they look really ugly because of the tearing caused by retrace line), I can't play any 2D games, et cetera.
