1. Since you are able to use Karmic Alpha2, let's forget 9.04. 2. Let's focus on the issue of virtual resolution setting in this bug. And please file separate bugs for the rest issues (though I don't see what's the problem for compiz). 3. You need tell the specific "virtual resolution specified in xorg.conf".
