Description John McMonagle 2006-06-13 08:55:07 UTC
My primary need for Local Dev support is for camera media.

I was thinking of getting adapters for camera media that fit in a drive bay.

Problem is the only way I can get it to work is to plug in the media in
before plugging in to usb port.

ran udevmonitor on my debian etch notebook and ltsp 4.2 terminal

Plugged in adapter and then media.

The difference is on terminal got no output when plugging in the media
on etch got this:

UEVENT[1149887887.778307] add@/block/sda/sda1
UDEV [1149887887.866629] add@/block/sda/sda1

Also if plugged in ltsp terminal it never creates the devices such as /dev/sda1.

Tried on sarge notebook that uses a much earlier version of udev and it will
create /dev/sda1

Still an issue with ltsp 5.2.4-2 in debian squeeze

It drives the users crazy.
To duplcate:
Get an external usb media (cf sd or whatever) adapter.

Plug in the adapter without the media installed.
Plug in media.
It will not be detected.

Pull out the usb from the adapter.
Leave media in.
Plug the usb back into the adapter.
The media will be detected.

John
